Frequently Asked Questions about PMU

Please reach me at aubrey@divineeyesandbrows.com if you have a question that weren’t answered!

Permanent Makeup is also known as Cosmetic Tattooing and is the process of inserting pigment into the first layer of the skin to create a hyper-realistic, long-lasting and natural makeup look such as brows and lip colors. *I do not do lip blushing*

Microblading creates realistic hair-like strokes on the eyebrows, while powder brows create a soft shaded effect. Both techniques create a natural-looking eyebrow.

Combo brows are a combination of microblading and powder brows, adding a few strokes in the front of the brow and blending into a soft shaded look.

It’s important to note that everybody‘s skin heals differently and perfect healing is not guaranteed. While improper healing is rare, it is still a possibility varying from person to person and things like your skin type, excessive bleeding during the process and proper aftercare are all things that will greatly impact your healing results. Please read this list below so you can make an informed decision on whether or not PMU is for you!

Things that indicate you are NOT a viable candidate for PMU are:

• Pregant or breastfeeding (If breastfeeding, consult your artist for further details)

• Have frequent rash breakouts or severe skin conditions in the brow area

• On blood thinning medications daily

• Undergoing chemo-therapy or radiation

• On or recently just got off Accutane within the last year

• Have done retinols within the last 2 weeks

• Have recently gotten intense chemical facial treatments, botox or fillers within the last 6 months

• Under the age of 18

Permanent brows can last anywhere from 1-5 years depending on how well your skin retains the pigment, how often you keep up with the touch-ups annually, daily sun protection, and aftercare after each appointment.

After microblading or any machine shading service, at 6 weeks you’ll come back for a color boost. The intention with the 6-week touch up is simply for longevity, not to change anything from the first appointmen unless you want to go darker in color. After that, you‘ll come back every 1-3 years depending on how you retain the pigment!

A $100 deposit is required to book all PMU appointments. Microblading- $350, Powder brows- $400,  Combo brows- $400 and the 6 week touch up for all services is $125.00

(Optional) Save time and fill out your paperwork ahead of your appointment!

Appointment Prep

How to prep for your appointment

Refer to these notes so we both can be best prepared!

No caffeine the day of your appointment

Caffeine expands your blood vessels leading to increased blood flow! This can cause low-visibility through the procedure because of the excessive bleeding at risk. Hydation is key! (Pin-point bleeding however is normal and expected through a permanent makeup procedure.)

Do not take any blood- thinning medications the day of appointment

With the same risk as caffeine, certain medications can thin your blood and cause excessive bleeding. as well as cause your body to react the procedure. Please contact me if temporarily stopping any medications is an issue for you!

No waxing or chemical treatments before or after your appointment

We want your skin to be nice and relaxed, waxing and chemical treatments (including retinols and Retinol-A's) cause irritation and reactions in the skin. We also want to see your natural and wild brows in all their glory so we can give you the perfect shape! (Do not receive treatments for at least two weeks prior.)

Must not be pregnant or breastfeeding

Topical numbing agents like epinephrine and lidocaine are used through the appoointment and will get into the blood stream. If you’re breastfeeding it’s recommended to pump and dump for atleast 36-48 hours after the appointment.

No alcohol the day of or after your appointment

Again with the blood thinners! Alcohol will cause lots of blood flow in the head, can also cause your body to react to the procedure and improper healing if consumed immediately-2 days after procedure.

Arrive with clean makeup-less face

The chances of me getting pigment and mapping lines on parts of your face are big, so coming with a clean face ensures comfortably for you and for me!

Guests

Guests are welcome! but please note that the PMU studio is very small and limited to space, so I ask you don’t bring  than 1 guest along. I'm happy to recommend things to do in the area if needed!
